There are TWO DIFFERENT FEES associated with each class: class fees and kit fees.

CLASS FEES are the charge for taking the class and must be paid at registration time
to reserve your seat in the class.

KIT FEES are the cost of non-optional MATERIALS that are required in order to participate in the course; kit fees are payable directly to the instructor on class day at start of class.

Note: GST is payable on all fees. If paying by cheque, please include GST. Ontario RST (8%) is also payable on kit fees (at time of class).

Description:

This full 8-hour day will be devoted to multiple techniques of using wire in jewelry. All 3 techniques shown in the photos above will be taught. We will make pieces incorporating beads as rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Some techniques will be very new to Canada; some will be a variation of already known designs but with a twist.

NOTE: Classrooms are equipped with task lights; students should bring their own electric hairdryer, eyeglasses, magnifiers or additional task light(s) as needed.

Kit: Supply fee for the day will be $35.00 and will include use of any tools for the day needed for each portion of the class EXCEPT a hair dryer which we ask that you please bring to the class.

About the instructor:Jelcy Romberg is a professional Beading Techniques instructor based in a Dallas, Texas suburb but spends approximately 40 weekends a year traveling and teaching at bead shows, bead retreats, bead societies, stores and private groups. She is also under contract with a cruise line to teach beading classes on various ships several times a year. In addition to all of these activities, she also teaches a weekly Beading Techniques class on a semester basis at the Craft Guild of Dallas where she learned to bead herself after having spent years studying silversmithing, fabrication, enameling, glass fusing, glass casting, lampwork bead making, ceramics, basket weaving, marbled paper making and other creative arts. Description:

This class can be taken as a prerequisite to FreeForm Peyote Pin or Lady Bugs or English Garden Ring classes, to gain the skills necessary for those classes. Learn one of the oldest and most popular off loom beading stitches. Make yourself a neat Checker Board patterned bracelet using large 8/0 Delicas® (DBL) beads with a button or toggle closure.

No perfume in class please.

NOTE: Students must bring to class their own bead wax or Thread Heaven, bead mat, and scissors (task lamps provided but may bring own task lamp and magnifier if needed).

This 6-hour class introduces the basic tools and techniques for making wirework jewelry. It begins with an overview of the different types of wire and the tools required. Then the basic techniques, such as a loop, a wrapped loop, spirals and cages, are learned in the process of making a pair of earrings and a bracelet. Other techniques are taught to provide variations in design. The skills taught can also be carried over to necklaces. Printed handouts and instructions are included, including further resources. Tools are provided. Project Materials include sterling silver wire, findings and glass beads; kit fee - $30.

This wire and bead bangle is an eye catcher and pleaser. With some thought you can alter this in many ways once the technique is learned to create one of a kind looks. Dress up or down with your choice of beads.

NOTE: Students supply their own beads( approx. 15-17 6mm beads are needed). Some beads will be available purchase from instructor. Students should bring their own round nose, flat pliers, cutters and bead mat. Instructor will have limited quantity for sale. Description:

Learn to play with beads of different sizes and colours as you make an exciting peyote pin / pendant with a backed bevelled cabochon as a centrepiece. This project may be made as a pin or pendant to be hung as a necklace. Each pin / pendant is as individual and special as you are. Experience with the peyote stitch is required.

No perfume in class please.

NOTE: Students must bring to class their own bead wax or Thread Heaven, bead mat, scissors and selection of your own favourite special beads to make your pin / pendant unique (task lamps provided but may bring own task lamp and magnifier if needed).

The style is ageless. I teach this class about twice a year and frequently wear one of many Strings ‘n things necklaces that I have made. It requires 3 focal beads and incorporates both beading and stringing techniques. You may well finish it in class. If you do not finish in class, you will know exactly what to do on your own.

This is an unusual Byzantine Star pendant necklace. Wear it as it is, or highlight one of your special beads by connecting it at the base of the star. Large silver cones cover the tube ends in preparation for a clasp, should you choose the bracelet option. Forego the clasp to add some rhodium-plated chain and you have a dramatic necklace. Previous tubular bead crochet experience is recommended.
