DOOR PRIZES

This year as usual we are going to do door prize draws.  There will be at least one draw per day, at 4pm.  Company names and booth numbers of exhibitors who have donated prizes for that draw will be read over the PA system in both show rooms.

If you would like to donate one or more door prizes, please contact us before September 12 2008.   Donations should have your business card attached.  They must be suitable for cost-effective mailing by us to winners who aren't required to be present at draw time.  Please drop the door prizes off to me during set-up.

MAGAZINE GIVEAWAYS

Bead and Button, Beadstyle and Art Jewelry magazines usually generously support the show with a supply of free magazines which will be put out on the front desk, plus free subscription door prizes.   Usually the free magazines are all gone by Friday evening, for the information of those exhibitors who sell beading magazines.

NEW SET-UP AND SHOW TIMES - IMPORTANT

Set-up and Friday show opening times are different for the 2008 Fall show - set up will be all day Thursday, and the show will open at 10am Friday (which is two hours earlier than at our other and previous shows). There will be a very small set-up window Friday from 7am to 9:30am.

Thursday September 18 2008 from 10:00am to around 9:00pm,
and Friday morning September 19 2008 from 7:00am to 9:30am.

The show opens promptly at 10:00 AM Friday.
The show closes as usual at 5:00pm Sunday September 21 2008 with no teardown before that time. Teardown must complete by 9:00pm Sunday September 21 2008.

UNLOADING and LOADING AREAS - SOUTH BUILDING

If you have a minivan or shorter vehicle, your own small dollies, and a limited amount of product and displays, you may choose to use the South Building parking lot to unload / load. There are two elevators to go from the parking lot to the 800 level avoiding all stairs; however it is a significant distance and not suited to large dollies, large loads or many trips. If you have a regular-size van, cargo van or tall truck or tall SUV, you won't be able to park in the South Building garage - please take this into consideration in your plans for both loading/unloading, and if you are considering a parking pass please first consider if your vehicle will fit.

If you have a lot of material, need a large dolly, or have a truck that requires a high loading dock, one of the South Building Loading Docks will be available.  Details of which dock will be available and posted here closer to the show. Please contact us by September 5, 2008 if you intend to use the dock.

FOOD NEARBY - RESOURCES AND TIPS

There are limited / no food facilities in the South Building unless provided by another show; coffee is available in the North Building and at many outlets around the North Building. There's a food court under the CBC building (access from the CBC building lobby, down the stairs to the right just before the Barbara Frum Atrium).  CBC Radio (and me too!) gives kudos to Green Curry, a great little Thai place in that food court with lots of tasty food at a good price.   There are other take-outs in that court that are also open Friday evening and Saturday (but not Sunday).   On Friday there is also a Food Court under Metro Hall on the north side of Wellington just left (west) o f Roy Thomson Hall.  There are street vendors on Friday and sometimes Saturday. Nearest Starbucks locations: Wellington and John (1 block north of MTCC North Building west side); Union Station subway (just outside the subway station doors in the Royal Bank building concourse).

There are a number of restaurants and take-outs within a block or so of MTCC North and several also on Queen's Quay a couple of blocks south of the South Building, plus a Rabba grocery store at the west side of the building on Front St.  There are a number of restaurants at King and Simcoe (North-West corner), including a Swiss Chalet (that does take-out and is open all weekend including Sunday from around 11:30am) and Il Fornello, Chinese, Sushi and Indian restaurants.  There are a bunch more up Duncan north of King (between Simcoe and John) - Whistling Oyster does a nice Singapore noodle and should do take-out.  There are several restaurants on the north side of Front between Simcoe and University (the Italian one used to have a take-out antipasto bar) and they should do takeout.  There is a Subway takeout about a block away.  There are a lot of fine restaurants on King St. south side just west of John (which is the street at the light on the west corner of the building, where the parking lot exit is).  There is a Starbucks at John and Wellington (North-West corner).

Keep those energy levels up!

BADGES and TABLE CARDS

We provide 2 badges per exhibitor by default.  If you need more badges, please contact us by September 5 2008.  If you need more than 4 badges there may be a charge.   The table sign is a folding card that's about 3.5 inches high by 11 inches long.

SALE SIGNS

There will be no signs allowed that advertise merchandise as on Sale, Show Special or that the retail price is a percentage off a marked price.  Wholesale discounts are allowed for qualified wholesale customers, and volume purchase "buy N and get 1 free" retail offers are allowed as long as the total discount does not exceed 2/3 retail (i.e. "buy 3 get 2 free" is ok but "buy 2 get 20 free" is not ok).

MUST ORDER YOUR OWN POWER

Power is not included with booth fees for this show - all exhibitors must order their own power directly from Showtech on the forms provided near the bottom of this page.

NO EXTRA TABLES

Please do not count on there being extra tables available on set-up night.   Please pre-order from us (rental fees will apply for extra tables) or bring all the tables you will need.  If you need additional tables from us you will need to contact us by September 12 2008.   We are using the same table suppliers as usual Fall. All tables that we supply are unskirted. If you require additional furniture use the form below (better price if ordered by September 12 2008) to order from our decorator.

VENDOR PERMITS

As required by law, you must have an Ontario vendor permit, must charge, collect and remit Ontario retail sales tax in order to sell goods in Ontario, and if you gross more than $30,000 per year income in Canada you must have a GST number and charge, collect and remit GST.   You are also required to have the vendor permit on display at the show in case of inspection by the province's Ministry of Revenue.

PROTECT YOUR STOCK

Protect your stock from losses - have adequate staff to keep an eye on your stock at all times while the show floor is open, and don't allow yourself to be distracted. Put the most valuable stock into protected cases (e.g. under glass) or secure stock to displays or tables.
